On the course
What the round feels like
Originally designed in 1971 and remodelled by Arnold Palmer in 2005, South has hosted the Spanish Open. Its broad fairways give the round a spacious feel, while water and well-defended greens keep approach shots interesting
A testing front nine
Long par threes and par fives make the opening half a substantial test of distance and accuracy
A change of rhythm
The shorter back nine brings doglegs and decisions about positioning, rather than simply hitting as far as possible
